Cycling in the Sun is not only a business idea for myself and Nigel but also a lifestyle choice. Living on the Costa Blanca so close to Calpe we ride and socialise with cyclists from all over Europe. The terrain is, without doubt, challenging in this area. Why else would the majority of professional and development cycling teams come here to train throughout the winter months? Not only that, but many northern European cyclists make this their perfect cycling trip year on year. We absolutely love being out and about on our bikes, chatting with others about their rides, their power, their favourite climbs and their next trip back to the Costa Blanca.

Together, Nigel and I have a vision to enhance the lives of others through cycling and other sporting activities. We are so fortunate to live in this beautiful environment and are so grateful that we do not have to pack our bikes into a bike box at the end of the week. When watching the weather forecast on the BBC news we thank our lucky stars that we do not have to go back to the cold, rainy weather of the UK! We therefore appreciate that your cycling holiday is important to you and that you are here to ride your bike, enjoy the sunshine and chill! It is our desire to make your time here as easy and stress-free as possible. Then and only then will we have achieved our aim.

Hosting cyclists, sporties and language learners in our beautiful Casa au Lilas Rosa is what we came here to do. We are so proud of what we have achieved despite the odds set against us such as BREXIT, a global pandemic, language barriers, gaining residency and starting a new life in a new country in our 50’s. We have worked endlessly and tirelessly to make the Casa as comfortable and user-friendly as possible. All we want is for you to join us and enjoy your time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You never know, you might decide the Spanish lifestyle is for you too!

Julie’s personal profile

Life has definitely been about the journey for me and it continues to be so. Meeting new people and learning about their own journey is what makes this business venture so enjoyable. I am not the greatest cyclist but I enjoy it and am grateful for every day that I can ride my bike. I have good days and not so good days on the bike but then that’s life isn’t it!

It is certainly challenging starting a new business out here on the Costa Blanca at the ripe old age of 50! However, I do love a challenge and I do love to share great experiences with great people. This is an amazing place to ride your bike so why not join us and see for yourself? Nigel and I are fully committed to making your stay as enjoyable as possible and the climate for cycling is absolutely perfect.

I have two grown up children of my own, Lauren is a highly successful waitress with superb communication skills. She holds down two jobs currently, working full time as a Customer Sales Graduate in a highly successful supply company. She enthuses happiness and positivity wherever she goes and loves to travel abroad as often as possible. She loves to experience new cultures and gain a better view of the world.

Oliver, is a highly motivated sportsman and has successfully graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in Sports Management. He is currently studying for his Masters in Business Management in the USA and has already suggested that he might stay there for good! Oliver has competed both nationally and internationally at Futsal and is currently living his best life playing Football for Ashland University. Neither of my children enjoy cycling but that doesn’t stop them from coming out here and having a wonderful time. Ollie has discovered golf and Benidorm! Lauren has discovered snorkelling, paddle boarding, the waterfalls and many of the bars and restaurants. You never know, over time they might discover the beauty of this area on an E-bike too…

As a sports coach to many young children and young adults I have had the luxury of meeting many gifted and talented athletes during my career. I am now looking forward to meeting many new people who enjoy and engage in a variety of sports. We have had the pleasure of hosting some amazing young cyclists already from Holland, Belgium and the UK and look forward to them returning at some point in the future. Of course, the young developing cyclists are in a league of their own, that doesn’t stop them enjoying La Casa and the facilities upon their return. Whatever your standard of cycling and aims and goals, I am sure Nigel and I can facilitate them during your stay here at La Casa au Lilas Rosa.
