Our Vision

Having taken the plunge to seek a new, more relaxed life on the Costa Blanca, we wish to share the simplicity of this area with as many like-minded people as possible.

Having met in Annecy, France in 2018 we immediately knew that we were destined to pursue a dream of running an activity based business in the sunshine.

When the pandemic hit the UK in March 2020 we thought the odds were against us. We had to obtain Spanish Residency before 31st December 2020 if we were to have any chance of achieving our dream. Luckily, both the universe and Boris Johnson appeared to be on our side! A break in the lockdown rules allowed us to pack our bags and make the move out to Spain on 23rd October 2020; quite simply just in time!

The race was then on! We had to find a house suitable for us to live in and run our dream activity based business before the prices escalated beyond our means. Again, luck seemed to be with us, enabling us to purchase a stunning Spanish villa in April 2021. Another step closer to achieving our dream, we set about renovating what is now lovingly known as the Beautiful Casa au Lilas Rosa. Our stunning Spanish style villa stands proudly in the Montemar valley, in a calm and peaceful urbanisation very close to Moraira, Benissa and Calpe. It has the luxury of over 15 hours of sunshine in the summer with the sound of birds singing all day long. There is generally a welcoming breeze which takes the edge off the heat of the sun and makes it easier to work outside. Once you are here you will realise why we fell in love with this villa and its location. The views of the valley which sweep down to famous Ifach Calpe Rock and the sea are simply beautiful.

We are now into our second year of running our activity break business and are proud to receive 5 star reviews throughout. We have welcomed cyclists, triathletes, mountain climbers, holiday makers and English language learners. Our Spanish guests simply love this area, citing that the local beaches are THE BEST on the Costa Blanca. Cyclists love La Casa as they can recover in the jacuzzi with a beer post ride. Triathletes are blown away by the fact that they can swim wetsuit less in October and April (brrrr it’s a bit cold in April to be fair). Our English language learners have joined us from Germany, France and Spain. There again, we have received nothing but 5 Star reviews on the quality of the learning, progress made and the enjoyable activities combined with English Language learning.

In creating a new business we have acquired many wonderful European friends as well as integrating ourselves into the local community. We are now part of the amazing local running and Padel clubs and like to compete in run races, Padel tournaments and cycling sportives as often as time allows.

We recognise how much healthier people are who live out here on the Costa Blanca. People smile more, they are far less stressed and enjoy a much more relaxed and laid-back way of life. This is an observation echoed by the World Health Organisation who has determined, in a study, that the Costa Blanca climate is one of the most healthiest in the world!

So you may well ask do have any regrets about leaving the UK and starting a new life on the Costa Blanca..? Well the answer is YES but just the one: that we did not meet sooner in life so that we could have been enjoying this wonderful environment much much sooner!

About Julie

Cycling in the Sun is not only a business idea for myself and Nigel but also a lifestyle choice. Living on the Costa Blanca so close to Calpe we ride and socialise with cyclists from all over Europe.

Together, Nigel and I have a vision to enhance the lives of others through cycling and other sporting activities. We are so fortunate to live in this beautiful environment and are so grateful that we do not have to pack our bikes into a bike box at the end of the week.

About Nigel

I left school at the age of 16 to join the Royal Marines. This experience gave me an opportunity to stay physically fit whilst travelling the world and enabled me to work alongside like-minded people.

Being in the Royal Marines at such an early age I learnt an abundance of life skills, these include impeccable timekeeping, personal hygiene, self-discipline, cheerfulness in adversity, to be courageous, to work with others (especially under extreme pressure), to have a positive mental attitude and determination to succeed, even when the chips are down.
